Christmas Questions~ Meet Me On Monday

Meet Me On Monday

1.Wrapping paper or gift bags?

I love both! When I was younger I was defiantly a wrapping paper girl only with big fancy bows.

2.Real or artificial tree?

I would prefer a real tree. But the last few years we have had a small artificial. It has worked.
I miss the smell of fresh pine though.

3.When do you put your tree up?

It really depends. I would like to say I put it up about a week before Christmas. But the reality is that isn't the case.
Sometimes right after Thanksgiving. This year it was up about a week after Thanksgiving. Hubby wanted it up.

4.When do you take your tree down?

I usually take it down twelve days after Christmas. Or the second weekend in January!

5.Do you like eggnog?

Yes! I love eggnog. I actually haven't purchased any this year. That is strange. As when it first goes on sale I usually buy some and keep it on hand through the season.

6.Do you have a nativity scene?

YES! I have a whole lot of them. I love the nativity. Though this year we only have one up. It is the huge snow globe that plays silent night and lights up as the snow falls. It is a beautiful piece. It just wouldn't be Christmas without a nativity scene display. My favorite one that I had bought many years ago was stolen. Can you believe that? It made me sick as I had saved and saved for it. It was several hundred dollars. I had purchased it when the girls were very little.  Made me so very sad! But now I have  many nativities but none as beautiful s that one was.

7.Favorite Christmas Movie?

Okay can I say all of them! Really this is a tough one. I love the Christmas movies. How do you just pick one? I have so many favorites. But... If I had to pick just one I think it would be "Its A Wonderful Life."

8.Favorite Christmas cookie?

Gosh! Cookie...? Christmas...? My mom loves to bake. She makes the best homemade cookies ever in the world. Hmmmm...... I would love to say all the cookies my mom makes.  So I love sugar cookies!

9.Where will you eat Christmas dinner?

At my home with family and friends. It is a small crowd but full of love and laughter. I will miss my girls and grandchildren the most. I also will miss those that cannot make it. I love having family and loved ones around the Christmas dinner table.

10.Angel, bow or star on top of your tree?

Growing up I recall it being a star. Then at some point it went to an angel. I have done both. I do prefer the angel though. It also depends on the decorations and theme of my tree. This year it is a beautiful red angel!

11.Most annoying thing about this time of the year?

The rude people and the clerks that have no smiles  or thankfulness. Okay I know they are dealing with a lot and a lot of rude mean people. But please don't take it out on me. The lines can be a bit funny.... I just don't like them. I do chitchat with some interesting people though. I wish people were this friendly year round.

12.Do you like Fruitcake?

Absolutely No! That is the nasty's cake in the world! Okay so I know someone likes them. Just not me!

13.What are you most excited about the holidays?

Being with family and loved ones. Celebrating the birth of our Lord and Savior! That it feels so magically. I so like going the see the Nutcracker and other wonderful events to celebrate this wonderful time of year!

14.Do you open presents Christmas Eve or Christmas Morning?

One present on Christmas Eve. Then the rest on Christmas day. This year it will be all the presents on Christmas day. Only a few under the tree. So will save them all for Christmas morning.

15.Will you still be wrapping presents on Christmas Eve?

I use to do that all the time when the girls were little. I am hoping not this year. But you can never tell. Right now it looks to be NO! YEA!

Do you go out Christmas Caroling?

---------------------------------------------------------------

1.    Are you excited for the holidays or are you dreading them?

This is a tough question for me to answer. There was a time I would say I'm so excited I can hardly wait.  I'm not exactly dreading them either. Its I'm just not in the festive mood this year. Though once Thanksgiving comes and I pull out the decorations along with playing the Christmas music that will get me in the mood. Thanksgiving is getting harder and harder for me to get excited about. But...... I will give it the old college try. It isn't the same without all the family. It is just like another day to hubby and I when it is just he and I. But I will be hosting my friend John here for dinner other than that it will be very quiet. Christmas is my favorite holiday. Strange though I haven't done anything I usually have done for this time of year for Christmas. I am going to try and simplify it and make it more streamline this year.

2.     Do you hit the snooze button or get right up?

I don't use an alarm; so no snooze button for me. I gave up alarm clocks long ago. I just got tried of having them go off in my ear. It seemed so barbaric to be woken up that way. So I starting praying and asked God to wake me at the time I needed to be up. I thought He would be the perfect alarm clock. So it is kinda hard to hit that snooze button. But... have been known to pull the covers over my head and ask can I please just have five more. It was the best thing I ever did for my body and head. Much rather be woken up by the Holy Spirit. So no snooze button. (And no I haven't ever been late as of yet!)

3.     Do you still have your Tonsils?

        Yes! I do.

4.     What was the last piece of candy you ate?

Hersey's chocolate bar. Just last evening in fact. Left over from the trick or treat candy. Man those kids missed out. I had bought $25 worth of candy and only had 17 trick or treater's. Both hubby and I were a bit bummed!

5.     Do you shop at thrift stores?

Use to be my favorite place to shop. I don't much any longer. I still go in once in a great while. You can find great finds if you have the time to weed through the stuff. I shopped there when the kids where little and bought my entire wardrobe at the thrift stores. Not any longer. Though I was in one the other day and saw some of the things I had donated. I almost purchased them back. lol  I have also found other great household goodies in them. It seems I'm more into down sizing and donating to them lately then shopping in them. I guess that happens.

Do you donate your things? Have yard sells? Or pass them on to those you know in need?
