Crochet

This beautiful little crochet clothespin doll; I just love her!

She was in my shop when I started working there about nine years ago.

Every time I look at her I wonder about the person who made it.

I think of all the ladies that comment on her.

All the joy and many smiles this little doll has brought me and countless others.

The smiles that come through this little beauty shop come in so many ways.

It seems to bring out cherished memories and love of long ago.

I am so honored to be able to do a job I love; 

That brings joy, and smiles of beauty to each one that comes to sit awhile in my shop.

It amazes me what will stir their memories.

Maybe its the music, 

Or the little crochet clothespin doll, 

Or maybe it the bunny with the cotton tail that sits on the desk; 

Or the silk flowers, 

The conversation with others, 

Or maybe its just the touch of love.

Whatever it is.......

I am so blessed to be apart of it.

My husband calls my salon, "God's Waiting Room"

Whatever it is ......

I am truly blessed!
You see I get to hear the stories of yesterday!
The joy of love that each one holds.

Its not the jobs, the money, the house, or things,

Its each one of us that they love and hold dear.

I get to hear that Love story told over and over everyday!
From their childhood to their forever after!

The ones that make their hearts jump and their lips quiver with tears running down their cheek.

 The far away look as if they are there right now in this very moment,

With the ones they love and all the cherished memories.

The love story of their life and those they love.

The little crochet clothespin doll may represent just a small memory,

 that unlocks the love story;

Or one of the many little things in the shop that triggers a memory,

 For me to hear.

Yes!
I have the best job in the world!
You see I'm their hairdresser and I love them all!

Even the stories I hear over and over a zillion times,

As if it was the first time I heard it!

They are the joys of my day that bring the smile to my face each day I go to work.

I may only have them for a short time.

But ....God has blessed me with the best.

The latter days!

it may seem to be their end!

But truly is .....just their beginning!

They have such hope in their eyes...longing for rest.

As they approach each day with achievement.

Today has been extremely lazy!

I really just sat around and did nothing.

I could have gotten lots done today.

But truly chose to be lazy.

It has been a gloomy wet day out as well.

My soul feels peaceful and full.

So I would say I had a successful day!

Something beginning with "G"

I had a few ideas in my head for this one

But it just wasn't coming together.

I have been longing for Spring and Summer which brings beautiful gardens.

I soon will be walking more through some of the ones around here in town.

One day soon gardening in my own yard.

In the mean time pot gardening on my patio.

Looking forward to a bouquet of beauty.

 Another beautiful day today.

Though it did start out rather stormy and wet.

Love how Mt. Hood has that cloud circling around her top.

Such a beautiful mountain to look at.

I went on a short walk today and was able to see some other views in the neighborhood.

I don't walk as much as I use too when CK was a live.

I need to start walking more though, especial when the weather is a lovely as it has been.

You can really see how beautiful this mountain really is!

I think I need to go up to the lodge for a Spring day lunch with friends.

The lodge there is so beautiful and rich in history as is much of this area is.

Lots of beautiful parks and places to go and hike as well.

I think I will find some new ones this year to explore.

As another week comes to a close,

 It is always wonderful to be able to come home early and just kick ones feet up.

I actual went and got my hair cut today. 

I will have to post a before and after for you all.

It was nice to have someone else do my hair.

As a hair dresser I tend to neglect my own hair sometimes.

Kind of like the mechanic with his car being the last to be serviced.

Fun how that works out!

With the weekend here I look forward to sleeping in tomorrow.

I have been having fun with my camera lately.

Trying to take unusual photos that capture beauty and life in a different light.

It has been so pretty off and on the last few days between rain showers.

I run out and walk a bit and take the camera to take some photos.

I'm sure my neighbors and others think I'm nuts.

I really don't care.

I'm having fun and enjoying life.

The best part is I'm capturing it in my photo lens.

What a great life!

Not sure what I'm looking at here.

This was taken last year sometime at my sisters home.

I love going to visit them and spending time with them.

They have a lovely home about hour from here.

When I go down I usual spend the weekend with them.

I could come home.....But I love time with them.

I'm so blessed to have them live near me.

We didn't for so many years.

Now all of us live in the same state!

I still don't see them enough.

Brother live right down the road.

Sadly I don't hardly wee him at all.

Long story there.

Prayers need!
I miss and love him so much.

It is almost Friday and time to think about the weekend fun!

Though i must say I'm thinking how full tomorrow will be with all my beautiful ladies coming in to have their hair done.

They bring me such joy!

I know it is kinda funny to see a Christmas photo up this time of year.

In my world Christmas is everyday!

Though this was Christmas 1981.

I have been enjoying many old photos of my beautiful little girls that are now all grown and moms.

I am so super blessed to be there mom.

This photo is of Jeannie top left hand corner holding my baby girl Racheal; Lenita my niece, Standing next to her is my oldest daughter Heather, Santa holding my middle daughter Amber;

Young man in the photo is Clint and he is a cousin to my daughters.

He did this for years!

Day 6

A gift bent, broken, beautiful

My bent gift is the hose I use to wash the ladies hair. It gets bent a lot and without it I couldn't do my work or make the ladies look as amazing as they already are.

Broken is the gift we receive when we release those broken toys, habits, children, relationships, business, burdens, whatever it is: over to the Lord so that He may repair them they way they should be! Perfect....... That's if we leave them were they should be with Him! 

Beautiful is the smile in the face of the ladies when they leave the shop feeling like they can conquer the world around them. The hugs of beauty with each one that gives the paycheck of the heart. I am truly blessed!

Thankful Thursday

I have so many wonderful things to be 

thankful for............

1. The work of my hands and each lady I am blessed to do their hair and make them feel like the beauty Queens they are.
2. Free pie at lunch today
3. God's unmerited favor
4. Friendships that span the decades of our lives; as well as the miles across this beautiful country and land! I'm so thankful for each one the Lord has brought across my path; some for a season; some for a life time. Each have a been a gift and treasure to me and who I have become.
5. Hair spray! And all of my other tools like rollers and scissors to mention a few of my tools of the trade.
6. The beautiful sunshine weather we were blessed with
7. Knowing God holds me in the very palm of His hand and He is my provision
8. Food in my cupboards and refrigerator
9. Hugs from clients that warm my heart and bring smiles that last the whole day long
10. Hope!
11. Going to the movies with my girlfriend to see "Son of God" EXCELLENT!!

12. Big buckets of popcorn to share at the movie house

13. Sleeping in

14. Heat to keep us warm

15. Knowing you can be that special someone to someone else

16. Brunch out with hubby on Sunday
17. Watching the movie "Unconditional Full Movie" on the computer........WOW!
18. Tears that touch the heart and heal the soul
19. God's forgiving grace and mercy for us daily through His son's shed blood
20.  Warm sweaters to keep us warm in the cold of Winter
21. How one person can change the out look of everything in your life....so thankful for those who can turn a sad day into a happy one and put smiles on your face and turn a tear into a diamond! {Friends}
22. Lunch out with my girlfriends....thank you for the invite...an awesome way to spend a lunch hour
23. Big white puffy clouds dancing in the sky
24. Prayers that keep you awake praying for those you love
25. Honesty even when it hurts
26. God's hand painted sky views that are new everyday with the rising of the sun to the setting of the sun.
