Lent Season ~ Thankful List/Verse With Prayer: Day 38

Its Friday! And no we didn't get any sunshine! I had to bring my sunshine smiles along today to pass out to those in need, as well to all those who came across my path today. Smiles by the bucket full. The salon was popping early today. It is always nice to have a full and busy morning. It tapers off fast. By about eleven things slow down quit a bit. I look forward to when the business will pick up once again. I have been looking for other jobs. It seems a bit harder than when I was younger. You would think experience would be in my favor. I need to pack up lost of goodies for the weekend to head to go do taxes as my sisters home this weekend. I will be so glad to have that behind me. Yea! I am going to be doing a perm while I'm there. That is a nice extra bonus. Should be fun! I really don't know what I'm doing for dinner tonight. Left overs....? Who knows.

Thankful List Of Five

  1. Phone call from nephew
  2. Friends who tell it like it is; even when it hurts and you don't want to hear it. Because they care enough.
  3. Knowing God has a plan even when it doesn't seem like it
  4. Nice bank tellers with friendly smiles, that know my name before I get to the window; and ask me how I'm doing by name
  5. Chocolate peanut butter cup

Psalm 91:14

"Because he hath set his love upon me, therefore will I deliver him; I will set him on high, because he hath known my name."

Lord, help me always to look to you in any difficult situation, knowing that whatever my need, you will in some way supply it.

Have you completed you taxes and mailed them yet?

Lent Season ~ Thankful List/Verse With Prayer: Day 37

I was up early today as I wanted to call and see if there was any news on my daughter. I thank God He took good care of her and had good nurses and doctors providing good care for her. Thankful her sister never left her side. I'm so happy she is home and glad to hear that they are still searching for answers and running more test. I just pray she follows through. As she has four beautiful children that need her. Then after my morning call to California I got ready for the day. I was going to Vancouver, Washington for haircuts this morning. I was happy to see my friends. Darn if I didn't get Dan's hair a bit short. But it looked nice. Thank you Lord for the work of my hands today. Then  I stopped to get some things at Target today. That was a fun little stop. I spent my gift card I got for my birthday. Which is funny! Today is hubby's birthday. Happy Birthday honey! So I spent my birthday money today on his birthday. No! I didn't spend it on him. I got new pants and a blouse. Then home to finish cooking him a wonderful home cooked dinner. I made pot roast, twice baked potato and green beans with a chocolate swirl cake. Still waiting for him to arrive home to celebrate the special day the Lord blessed us with him. It has been a very wet, stormy rainy day. Winds are high as well whipping around. The ground is soggy and you slush through the grass. Kids have to love that!

Thankful List Of Five

  1. Having email
  2. Encouraging words of love
  3. Celebration of special dates: Happy Birthday honey!
  4. Tears of love as one ask for prayers of those she loves
  5. Knowing God cares for me

Heavenly Father, fill me with thy joy so that there will be a constant overflow to attract others to thyself.

Accountability ~ With Gym and Workouts

Original page:
It was a great work out yesterday morning before everything went south with worrying about my precious daughter. I did a hundred set ups with 70 pounds. That was a huge struggle. I will be dropping back down a bit. That was just a bit to heavy. I did about an hour and forty five minute work out. This picture of this mid-evil contraption is called an Arc trainer which is used in cardio work outs. It was very tough for me. I only lasted about five minutes on it. My siacitac nerve started giving me grief. Now if I could get this young woman's body I would be elated! So this is something to strife for.

Do you have aches and pains that prevent you from doing some of the work outs you'd like to do?

Lent Season ~ Thankful List/Verse With Prayer: Day 36

So I had all the intentions of staying on top of my blog and the Lent season this week. Then yesterday went all haywire. It started off even a bit interesting. My two older girls were in a bit of a struggle an calling and talking with me. I did get to the gym which I'm so thankful for. I was enjoying the break in the rain. I then got phone call from Sacramento that my middle daughter Amber was in the hospital. Needless to say; I was useless after that. Was hard for me to focus. All I wanted to do is hijack a plane and get myself down there to be with her. Thank God she is okay! Her sister Heather never left her side. Sisters love is so special. Hubby and just relaxed and waited near the phone. Finally I went to bed realizing I wouldn't know anything until today.

Thankful List Of Five

  1. Breaks in the rain
  2. Telephone's
  3. Gods grace, mercy and healing hand
  4. Prayers of the saints that stand in the gap with you
  5. The touch of my Savior that lulls me to sleep

John 8:12

"I m the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life."

Father, what you have to say to us is vital. Help us to listen; help us to hear.

Do your children live far or near from you?

Jostles me softly
As I fall gentle in your arms
As each remnant of
Your touch lingers in my mind
As you slowly seduce me

Lent Season ~ Thankful List/Verse With Prayer: Day 35

No sunshine for us again today. Only the rain of tears of the love the Lord sheds for us. Maybe soon I will see the sun. Up early for work today! Though I should always be prepared for the Lord to switch it up. Which is exactly what He did. I felt like I got  a lot done though. I worked for both John and Randi today. Each with their own special needs. Mostly i just love both of them. I as well got some of my own errands and running around done as well. That is always a good feeling. Got some bills paid! YEA! One day I will be debt free. Which is my goal. When I came home today I did a little computer fixing for hubby. He needed the printer and it needed some ink . So got that set up for him. Feeling really drug-out today. I could have taken a nap and slept through the rest of the day. But... needed to fix out yummy dinner. I made us stuffed peppers. They turned out great1 Now we are watching the eliminations of Dancing with the stars. Love this show.

Thankful List Of Five

Lent Season ~ Thankful List/Verse With Prayer: Day 34

As I started my day today. I started with a good work out at the gym. I like getting there and getting it over with. No messing around for me. Get what I like out of the way. Though I do enjoy the company and the support of my girlfriends awesome! Home I came to get ready for the rest of the day. I had a haircut at one of the Adult Foster Care homes I use to go into regularly and do hair. That was great as I made arrangements to go back next week and do hair for the Easter weekend for three of the clients there. So I have some more work to do. YEA! Then home and I go the mail and wrote out some bills. They seem to be rolling in rather quickly. It seems I just paid them. Then here they come again! Some walks in the beautiful outdoors and fresh air and sunshine. Had to lap it up well I could. Rain is coming and will be here for at least a solid week. YUK! Then hubby BBQ once again for us. He made chicken and rice with corn. Yummy! So glad I have a hubby that enjoys doing these things for me. We will watch our favorite shows together this evening. "Dancing With The Stars" then "Castle". Goodnight of TV for us.

Thankful List Of Five

  1. Enjoying the fresh air and the walks this afternoon outside
  2. Visiting with my neighbor Ruthie who is just an encouragement and full of the Holy Spirit
  3. Being able to write checks to pay my bills
  4. Future hair appointments that will be coming up in the next few days and weeks
  5. Healthy meals

John 15:9

"As the Father hath loved me, so have I loved you: continue ye in my love."

O Lord, I love you because you first loved me.

Did you have a great start to your work week?

Accountability ~ With Gym and Workouts

Up and at them on a Monday morning. Yes! I once again was faithful to my work partners and my goal of going to the gym. I need to make it at least three times a week or more. So far so good. Today I got up and went right in around 8:15. I started with sit ups and had 40 pounds of weight on the machine as I did them. Then headed straight the bicycle. I spent about an hour on it today. I was tired! not sure from what. But tired. So after about hour fifteen minutes or an hour half I was done. Short hard work out. I did it! Got home and hubby was getting ready to go and do his work out. Later in the day I did several walks. I walked to the bank to pay a bill. Then I went on a walk just to enjoy some of the beautiful sunshine before the rain hits tonight and breathe some of the beautiful fresh air. Loved it! So I think we had a good day in getting some exercise. I'm actually looking forward to it warming up a bit in the evening and not raining. As hubby and I like to take walks after dinner. Something to look forward too.

Do you like to take walks after dinner?

Lent Season ~ Thankful List/Verse With Prayer: Day 33

Why is it when you want to sleep in; you cannot? Your wide awake at the crack of dawn ready to start the day. That is what happened to me today. I guess that is a good thing. I get lots done that way. But I so was looking forward to sleeping in. This afternoon I got together with one of my brides that I will be doing hair and make up for. Oh!She is so beautiful! We had a great time. Pinned several styles and came up with one that she really liked. I love doing brides. They are so happy and radiant. I had to go work for John late afternoon early evening. Then home to cook dinner for hubby. No sun today. It was sad!I was so looking for my little bright ball of yellow fire. No where to be found. Either in hiding or has been kidnapped once again.

Thankful List Of Five

  1. Meeting with the bride and her sister. Trying out several styles before coming up with one we all really liked
  2. Yogurt
  3. God's abundant grace
  4. Watching the "Wizard Of Oz": Which bring fond childhood memories as well as with my own children
  5. Friendly neighbor's

Matthew 5:3

"Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven."

Keep me humble, dear Lord, when I am faced with undeserved problems. Also keep me meek, so that the love of Christ will shine through me to others.

Do you like to get dressed up or just dress causal?

92 Year Old Preacher

I just couldn't pass this up. I had to share this one on my blog. Yet another beautiful an wonderful email that I received. Came from a high school friend. It put the biggest smile on my face. Hope you enjoy it as much as I did. Please feel free to take and share with all you know. I'm sure they will enjoy the smile and so understand this child song to the Lord. May your day be blessed in all His glory and love.

Original page:

92 YEAR OLD PREACHER

While watching a little TV on Sunday instead of going to church, I watched a church in Atlanta honoring one of its senior pastors who had been retired many years. He was 92 at that time and I wondered why the church even bothered to ask the old gentleman to preach at that age. After a warm welcome, introduction of this speaker, and as the applause quieted down, he rose from his high back chair and walked slowly, with great effort and a sliding gait to the podium. Without a note or written paper of any kind he placed both hands on the pulpit to steady himself and then quietly and slowly he began to speak....

"When I was asked to come here today and talk to you, your pastor asked me to tell you what was the greatest lesson ever learned in my 50-odd years of preaching. I thought about it for a few days
and boiled it down to just one thing that made the most difference in my life and sustained me through all my trials.. The one thing that I could always rely on when tears and heartbreak and pain and fear and sorrow paralyzed me...
The only thing that would comfort was this verse..............

"Jesus loves me this I know.
For the Bible tells me so.
Little ones to Him belong,
We are weak but He is strong.....
Yes, Jesus loves me....
The Bible tells me so."

The old pastor stated, "I always noticed that it was the adults who chose the children's hymn Jesus Loves Me' (for the children of course) during a hymn sing, and it was the adults who sang the loudest because I could see they knew it the best."

"Here for you now is a Senior version of Jesus Loves Me":

JESUS LOVES ME

Jesus loves me, this I know,
Though my hair is white as snow
Though my sight is growing dim,
Still He bids me trust in
Him.
(CHORUS)
YES, JESUS LOVES ME.. YES, JESUS LOVES ME..
YES, JESUS LOVES ME, FOR THE BIBLE TELLS ME SO.

Though my steps are oh, so slow,
With my hand in His I'll go
On through life, let come what may,
He'll be there to lead the way.
(CHORUS)

When the nights are dark and long,
In my heart He puts a song..
Telling me in words so clear,
"Have no fear, for I am near."
(CHORUS)

When my work on earth is done,
And life's victories have been won.
He will take me home above,
Then I'll understand His love.
(CHORUS)

I love Jesus, does He know?
Have I ever told Him so?
Jesus loves to hear me say,
That I love Him every day.
(CHORUS)

If you think this is neat, please pass it on to your friends. If you do not pass it on, nothing bad will happen, but you will have
missed an opportunity to "reach out and touch" a friend or a loved one.
God Bless Us All!!!

So have you told Jesus you loved Him today?

Accountability ~ With Gym and Workouts

Original page:
Up and rise early to the gym I go! Even on a Saturday morning when I could sleep in. Okay so I have work out partners now that I'm accountable to them as well. So there is no backing out or not showing up for 482 days. One actually called me an over achiever this morning. I had to laugh. As that is so far from the truth. I arrived and just got started working out. Lets get in and get out as fast as one can I say. Actually both of my girlfriends are Marathon runners and one of them used to do weight training. So I couldn't have picked two more fabulous ladies to work out with; Who will keep me on track and focused as well as help me learn how to use these machines and weights properly. Not to mention that they are very encouraging and don't want me to hurt myself either. So that is great. Where with hubby it is come on push it and do things that I know I cannot. This plan is working much better for me. Thank you Rikki and Cindy! You are both so awesome in helping me achieve my goals. So today I worked out on the tread mill for a half hour and then half hour on the bike. But these girls where just getting started. They wanted to go down and work out on the weights. Okay I can do that. So..... The good thing is there was no camera around or you would have found some humorous photos of me stuck in these mid-evil contraption's that they call weight training machines. So Yes! I obviously survived this form of torture. Not sure why anyone would want to do this. But.... I'm game as I am headed to a rock hard gorgeous body even if it is only in my mind. So I did about a half hour on the weights today. And I felt every bit of it too. I would have stayed a bit longer with them. But... had to run home and clean up for the day. I had a luncheon date with Mary who is putting together the The Dalles High 35th class reunion. She rocks as well. So it was a good day at the gym. Not sure about these evil weights and machine's; But if they help me achieve my goal. I'm game.

Do you work out with weights and the mid evil machines that torture?

Lent Season ~ Thankful List/Verse With Prayer: Day 32

Up early on a Saturday!Totally committed to exercise. Oh!I so must be crazy! More of that later.
Came home showered and shine to meet up with Mary and other classmates of the The Dalles High. Helping her to plan the 35 class reunion. OH that is a job. She has done huge amounts of awesome work to put this together. Great idea of a camping weekend. WOW!This is different and so much fun it will be too. Had lunch at the Olive Garden. They have the best soup and salad!Thank you Mary for Lunch. Then home where I started shredding paper. Found this to be rather therapeutic. Then I jammed up the shredder. BUMMER!Had to get that fixed. Throw out old magazines. Just starting on the Spring cleaning. Oh that feels good too. When hubby got home we went for Chinese dinner. That was so nice. Then I decided I would work on computer and get it running better. Well.......That didn't go so well. I had to call the Geek Squad and get help. Now we are on the right track. So it is catch up on blog time once again.

Thankful List Of Five

  1. More sunshine to brighten the day and soak in some rays
  2. Lunch with a friend and dinner with hubby
  3. shredding old papers that where well over due

Did you have a fun filled Saturday with family and loved ones?

Lent Season ~ Thankful List/Verse With Prayer: Day 31

R.I.P. Dorothy

Beth & Dorothy
At Beth's Beauty Salon
Parkview Assisted Living
Yes! I am playing catch up once again. Yesterday was a long day. It was a strange one as well. As it started off not on such a wonderful note. I went to work as always. But one of the caregivers asked which Dorothy was I expecting. I said I don't recall her last name; but she is the one with the oxygen tank. Oh! Honey! She passed away this morning. So a goodbye to my beautiful client Dorothy. What a joy she brought to me every Friday morning. Thank you Lord for bringing her into my life and the salon. She always prayed for me. I had the wonderful honor last month of helping her surprise her daughter. I'm so glad I was able to do that for her. One of her daughters last precious treasured gifts from her mom. I thank God that I was able to help her do that for her daughter. Dorothy, has a new birthday! Been set free from the oxygen tank, and breathing and is the the presence of our Father in glory! I pray the Lord hold her family and that they feel His precious peace about them as they say their last goodbyes to this wonderful woman. Thank you Dorothy for the laughter, smiles and prayers of love and encouragement that you bestowed upon me.

So as the day progressed it got more interesting. I did have a few ladies come in and even a few unexpected drop in. Over all it was a very good day at the shop. Busy! I did a color and a perm plus several haircuts along with my regular shampoo sets. Everyone left happy. Praise the Lord! I was going to go the bank; but the sun was out. I had other thoughts about doing errands. I wanted to lap up some of that wonderful sunshine. Which is exactly what I did. I sat and enjoyed the sunshine. It was wonderful!. I am so ready to bask in the sun. Hubby took us out for ice cream!Yummy!

Lent Season ~ Thankful List/Verse With Prayer: Day 30

Again I had the day planned out. But between weather changing how the morning started due to the snow. Then as the day tick by the day was continually switched around. Once again designed by God. I may have it planned and laid out the way I think it should go. Then whoop!there it goes in another direction. Which works out perfectly. Its just being willing to go with the flow and lead of the Lord. Then even when its not going according to the way you like at lest you know it is going smoothly and designed perfectly for the events of the day; because you followed His perfect design and leading. Hubby still isn't feeling up to par. Irritable is somewhat of an understatement. Praying he is feeling well soon. The sun popped out this afternoon!Yea! So wonderful to see that beautiful gold ball of fire. Though it is very chilly tonight. They say no more snow. We....will see! I'm doing a load of laundry this evening. Crazy!I never do laundry this late at night. But....hubby wanted something washed. The things we will do. I don't know if any of you are watching the new show "Missing"with Ashley Judd. WOW! Lent Season ~ Thankful List/Verse With Prayer: Day 29

Time is slowly inching away. Spring is here though it still feels like Winter here. I'm beginning to think someone is confused with the seasons. Though God can do whatever He likes. I think the weather man needs to consultant with him and so does Mr. Winter and Miss Spring!
I didn't sleep well last evening. I was wide awake at 4 this morning. So I did some praying. Then turned on the TV. As I know I can usually fall back to sleep with that boob tube on.In dozed in and out until about 6:15 then I gave up. Up and running I was. Headed to the gym. Then home. Took care of some business errands and some other business items today. It doesn't feel like I got a lot done. But I know I did. Hubby was home today. He is sick. Praying I don't catch whatever it is that is making him ill. Went to Popeye's to get chicken this evening so I didn't have to cook. Yea! It is very cold here today. I haven't been able to get warm at all. I'm thinking mittens would be nice actually.

Thankful List Of Five

  1. Having girlfriends to work out with in the gym
  2. The birth of my oldest grandson today!Who made me a grandma 15 years ago. Happy birthday Anthony!

Are you on an emergence list?

Accountability ~ With Gym and Workouts

Original page:

Another day at the gym. I think I'm getting better at this and more effective with my workouts. Gee I think it might be too that I have girlfriends to work out with. So much easier than a hubby to work out by far. Today another one of my girlfriends joined in with us. Great accountability as well for me. I just love it.They are surely super charged girlfriend's  that are very encouraging to work out with. Today I did 52 minutes on the bicycle and half hour on the tread mill. Then I went a did my sit up. I did a hundred of them with 35 pounds of weight. I  wasn't as hungry today when I came home from the gym. That was good. I was thinking this hungry cannot be good after a workout. But... my friends did say that was normal for them. Whoa! I'm not crazy! Just wish there was an easier way to achieve these goals I have for my health and the over all of my body appearance. Well.... anything worth having has to be worked for and the cost of some pain there will be much gain. Super glad to have girlfriends to work out with! Thank you Lord!

Do you find you hit a certain stage in the work out and it takes longer to push through the last bit of your set goal?

Three Word Wednesday

Amateur; noun: A person who engages in a pursuit, esp. a sport, on an unpaid basis; a person considered contemptibly inept at a particular activity; adjective: Engaging or engaged in without payment; nonprofessional.

Diligent; adjective: Having or showing care and conscientiousness in one's work or duties.

Nurture; verb: Care for and encourage the growth or development of; cherish; noun: the process of caring for and encouraging the growth or development of someone or something.

As we sing and dance
This tune of life
I find an amateur I am
I diligently seek perfection
Only to see I have failed
But it is in my failure
Where I learn to nurture
I grow
In this life
That I share with thee
As I sing and dance
A new tune each day
With diligent effort
In this dance of life
An amateur I will not be
As I share this dance of life with thee
As I nurture you each day
Till one day
You must sing and dance
This life
On your own
With those
