Day Two Ice Storm
February 10, 2014 |
This is what we woke up to right outside our door this morning.
The ice had moved itself right to the front door almost.
It was just past the welcome mat.
All the ice crystal pelts that have been falling since yesterday and through the night.
The ground is covered in the crystal ice.
Hubby didn't want me to go out!
But....the adventures that I am;
But....the adventures that I am;
I just had to go out and see what I could find.
And find I did!

As I gingerly walked around the apartment I found more signs of defrosting from the ice storm.
The icicles dripping from the roof and gutters.
I was hoping to catch a droplet but did not only on my head!

Truly amazed at the size of these crystals.
Some were rather large.
Very thankful no one was hit by one or hurt.
Very thankful no one was hit by one or hurt.
Not only are some large but very sharp as well.
And when falling in great masses it would really hurt someone really badly if they weren't careful.
Even walking on them is a challenge to.
Slick and slippery.
One needs steady feet!
February 10, 2014 |
Even with the gray skies still lurking in the morning hours;
And rain drizzle it was still a beautiful sight.
February 10, 2014 |
The big claws of the truck of this massive tree looks as though she is trying to kick the crystals away.
Surrounded by all the crystals she had been dropping since yesterday.
As stragglers still fall off today,
From her out stretched branches that still had some left on their limbs.
February 10, 2014 |
As I walked to go pick up the mail;
I was amazed at all the crystals all about the complex.
I was walking along the side walk when I came along this pile.
It appeared as broken glass to me.
Though it is hard to tell in this photo.
But it really did against the pavement.
Had to be extremely careful as I maneuvered around this ice rink of broken glass crystals of ice.
It was a puzzle maze to get around.
February 10, 2014 |
Still many snow banks around as well.
Now they are all covered in ice crystals and I'm sure are very slick.
February 10, 2014 |
Was very thankful I wasn't the one climbing up and down this stair case of hazard!
Prayed for the gentleman that lives above that has to climb up and down those stair case.
Surprised no one has cleared the steps for him.
Tomorrow if there is still snow there I will go and clear for him after work.
Hopeful someone will be kind enough to do it for him.
My feet would not be steady enough to do it today.
But as it starts to slush up I could do it.
February 10, 2014 |
Awwww........
Look there batting there eye lashes at me!
Couldn't resist this snowy ice patch of glittering beauty.
February 10, 2014 |
As the afternoon quickly sneaked up upon us.
The gray skies still hadn't lifted.
Wasn't the rain they had called for either.
So the big melt we all were waiting for never came.
So it appears we will be in slow melting process.
Praying I will be able to get out in the morning.
Car is still frosted over and covered ins now and ice.
So praying for that melt.

Another day of me just being inside.
I did get some tax work done.
Still have lots to do.
I took a stroll for the mail and got some great photos.
Hoped you enjoyed the adventure with me today.
Come back and see what we find tomorrow.
Do you get cabin fever easily when you cannot get out?

February Photo Challenge
Day 10~ 3 O'clock
Today's challenge I was actually outside collecting my mail stomping through the snow and ice crystals.
Bottom left hand corner you will see a small clearing near the mail boxes for us crazy ones brave enough to fight the elements of the snow and slippery ice.
Bottom right is snow covered in ice across the parking lot from me.
The other two found on line.
It was a quiet day in my world.

( My laughter from working on some of the paper work from my taxes. Still have lots to do so will be lots of not fun laughter I'm sure.)
Really the best I can do today! That is funny in of itself! I usually can fill them up with thought. But it is the TV folks!!
