Prompt~HERE WE LEAVE THE RUSHING

Another wonderful prompt from over at JL's "Dodge Writes"
http://dodgewrites.blogspot.com/
If you haven't checked out her writing you are missing out. She writes lovely poetry and is such an encourager.
Even if this isn't your form of writing it truly is inspiring.
Today we are to write a poem using this sentence in our poem. So I'm going to give it a whirl
HERE WE LEAVE THE RUSHING

--------------------------------------------
HERE WE LEAVE THE RUSHING

Here we leave the rushing
As you came to me with a rush
You grew so fast
Time slipped away
I had wished
Please
Slow down
Leave the rushing to me
But the time slipped away
As the days slipped into years
I thought
Please
As I thought
Of all the love and playing
I begged
Please
Here we leave the the rushing
So I could hold onto one more day
The little hand that held tight the love
The eyes that said mommy please
I love you so
I begged
Please
Here we leave the rushing
So I might hold onto one more day
The child that ran into my arms in play
That skipped and sang of
Childhood dreams
Then one day
The rushing stopped
A new generation begins
You then with bright eyes said
Here we leave the rushing
As you became a mom
You said
They come in a rush
They grow so fast
You said
I wish
Please
Leave the rushing to us
Their little hands
The twinkle in their eyes
Their curious search
Questions many
You say
Here we leave the rushing
As each new generation comes
With a rush
Slow down
No need to rush
Leave the rushing to us
So
Here we leave the rushing
As we grow older and wiser
Stop and smell the rose's
Here we leave the rushing
As each new generation comes
In with a rush

~Beth~
