Playdate ~ With Hubby On Mother's Day

This seems like such a strange play date that I'm going to share and write about. But it is something my dear hubby wanted me to do with him. Not something I would normally pick as a play date. But hubby and I rarely have same schedule to spend time together.
We both love a good drama and mystery. Somehow he ran across a series on AMC and has decided he needed to DVR this series as sometimes his work schedule doesn't allow him to watch the shows he enjoys. This one I hadn't sat down to watch with him. I did try last week. But... with not much success.
So on this wonderful mothers day he has decided he was going to share a funny story with me from work. Then we were going to watch the first three episode's from his series "The Killing". Then take me out for dinner and back home to completely catch up on the entire series to date.
So the story he shared with me actually is the funniest story that I'm sure happens to most married guys one time or another. I so felt for this guy and mostly his poor wife.
Hubby works at "Lowe's".
One of the guys in appliance had a friend come in to shop and was looking at vacuum cleaners. When my dear hubby comes along and hears this guy say I think she will really like this one.
Hubby ask who are you buying that for?
Gentleman: I'm buying this for my wife for mothers day.
Hubby: Are you nuts? And do you have a death wish?
Gentleman: NO! Why? What is wrong with this gift?
Hubby: Nothing if you don't want to be married.
Gentleman: I don't see anything wrong with this.
Hubby: It is kinda like giving her a toaster or an electric skillet , you just don't do it. How long have you been married?
Gentleman: 3 years.
Hubby: Oh! Well I tell you what; when you come back in come on over to my desk and let me know how that works out for you.
Manger Comes up and is a woman.
Manger: So whats going? Can I help?
Hubby chuckles.
Hubby: Hey Paulie how would you feel about getting a vacuum cleaner for Mothers day?
Manger: Well... I'd beat him with it unless of course he had diamonds, flowers, and candy in other hand and still would beat him with it.
Chuckling.
Hubby: So let me know how that works for you.
Man buys vacuum cleaner for wife.
I'm busting by this point.
So I just had to go there and ask... So where is my vacuum cleaner to beat you with. (laughing)
We usually don't give gifts any more. Usually dinner or a drive.
So you can only imagine how I was feeling for this poor guy and his wife. I will probably never know the out come. But.... had to share.
So then he ask please come watch this series with me. I have to admit it totally drew me in. It has shown 7 episodes and I tell you it is a griping series of who done it.
I really didn't want to watch it. But he so just wanted to sit and enjoy each others company and watch this program. Whats a girl to do? When the man she loves just wants her sit with him and watch a murder mystery.
Which I must say is more than a murder mystery. It has several story lines going on. I'm tending towards all the suspects that they aren't investigating yet. Or at least pointing too.
We watched half the series before dinner.
Then we head out to our favorite Italian restaurant.
Giuseppe's
We both love going there and always ask for Mary's section. She is a wonderful gal. She is the owners daughter and what a sense of humor she has. She always puts a smile on my face.
Then home again to finish up the series to this point.
It was a lovely day!
Not sure it was what I had envisioned but the Lord defiantly blessed us with a most enjoyable and quiet day and evening.
Natural the whole day has gone much different then planned. I had planned on getting some chores accomplished along with some packing for trip this up coming week. Maybe do some scheduled blogging so that I would have some post going up while I was gone. Write about fun pretty things.
None of that has obviously happened. But.. am very content with the way things have turned out.
So my play date has been one designed by both hubby and the Lord that has created a most restful and peaceful day. Something I had no idea I would so enjoy! Thank you Lord for this day.
And the chance to play who done it with the hubby as we continue to watch this series. Which I think will be the most fun! As this little adventures play date will continue for a bit until the end of the series when they reveal who done it. We are both getting out our little sheets of paper and taking our notes and playing that is for sure.  Then we will compare our notes and see what we both come up with and who is the murderer. Of course I will figure this out and win over hubby. LOL!
So this play date has brought hubby and I on an ongoing adventure. Which is something we haven't done in a long while. I'm looking forward to this one. Thank you Lord for this date with my hubby.

NIV

Titus 2: 1-5

You must teach what is in accord with sound doctrine. Teach the older men to be temperate, worthy of self respect, self controlled, and sound in faith, in love and endurance. Likewise, teach the older women to be reverent in the way they live, not to be slanderers or addicted to much wine, but to teach what is good. Then they can train the younger women to love their husbands and children, to be self controlled and pure, to be busy at home, to be kind, and to be subject to their husbands, so that no one will malign the word of God.

Do you have appointed dates to play and go out with your hubby?

Beth,
This sounds like the sweetest of days with your hubby! The gift of time together is something so precious. The Lord is blessed when we make time to strengthen our marriages, don't you think? If you hear how it went with the gentleman with the vacuum cleaner, you have to share, ok? Bless his heart. Have a wonderful week!

Beth,
Thanks for sharing your day, what a great story and time! I really have to admire your willingness to do what your hubby wanted to do and you not making it all about you, even tho it was.is your day, It is obvious you two have a true partnership. And if he were to now bring home a vacuum cleaner, I am sure you would find it a delight! lol Blessings to you! <3

Sounds like you had a great day! I spent most of it waiting, but it culminated to a nice gathering in the end. I received a slicer and a garlic mincer from daughters and hubby made a good choice - a new set of my favorite perfume with matching body wash and lotion. I can just see him going into Victoria's Secret looking for perfume! That 'scene' alone has made me laugh!
