65 Day Journey

Day 15

Honoring All Veterans

11-11-11

By: Tricia Davis

The two photos were  found on Face Book.
They truly express a little of what I am feeling today.
I have family member's that have fought and died in war.
Laid to rest in Arlington.
I have family serving this country proudly.
Family member's who are preparing to serve.
And a grandson who looks forward to the day he can serve his country proudly.

I have friends that have gone to war and never came home;
 And those that have.
I have friend's that have children serving.
What an honor!
I praise God!

All
Of them have come home!

I don't think there is anyone that I know who doesn't have family or know someone that has served.
Who hasn't been effected or touched by someone that serves this country.
(Or the one you live in.)
I'm sure it is the same for you.

It is because of men and women who so proudly serve,
Give their all for us that we can live in this beautiful land of

"The Home Of The Brave And The Free."
With all the freedoms, we so richly enjoy here in America.

Today is a day of remembrance.
I remember growing up in a strike military home as a child.
Back then I didn't think it much fun.
Today I'm proud to say;
Yes!
I am!
The values and the love of country where strongly embedded in this old gal.

So today as we look back and forward to what we have;
It is because someone cared enough to serve for that freedom.

Just as our Father in heaven cared enough to send His only Son that we might have true freedom in Him.
It is those who serve so gallantly even to death that we might enjoy the things we have.
To them I say thank you!
To the Lord I say Glory to you in the highest!
 All the Praises be yours!

My pray for
All Veteran's and their families

Dear Lord
As I think upon this day and all I have.
I first want to thank you for what you have done for me.
Sent your only Son that I might have life and life more abundantly.
But...
As I reflect I know that you have raised up many men and women who serve this country proudly.
They serve this country so I might enjoy the the rich pleasures of freedom.
I ask that you would be with each one and their families Lord.
That you would guide them protect them Lord.
Put a hedge of protection encamped about that no weapons formed against them should ever prosper against them Lord.
I thank you that you give them and their superiors wisdom and guidance in what they should do at all times. In war and in peace Lord.
Leading them and directing them in the path in which they should go.
That they would have ears to hear from you and eyes to see where you are leading them too.
I thank you for those who have given the ultimate sacrifice of their lives Lord.
We ask that you would be with their loved ones.
Comfort them!
Hold them tenderly in you loving care.
Bring those that can minister to them right where they are.
Turn their morning to rejoicing Lord.
I thank you for this sacrifice Lord.
Freedom isn't cheap.
It comes with a deep cost.
As you gave your son for the true freedom in you.
Men and women give their lives for our freedoms in this land.
We say thank you Lord.
We ask that you would bless and meet each of their needs Lord.
To their families give them the peace only you can give that surpasses all understanding in Jesus name.
Cover each one in blood of your son Lord.
Send your sweet Holy Spirit Lord.
We thank you Lord for those brave men and women that you have raised up and continue too.
Give each one of them the wisdom, peace, compassion, grace, courage to face each day.
I ask this for their families, as well, Lord.
Thank you.
I thank you for each man and woman who has ever or will serve Lord.
May they be comforted in knowing you and your rich glory in heaven in
Jesus name
Amen

Don't forget to say thank-you to those that have served.
Give a hug and a shout of joy to them.

John 15:13

New International Version (NIV)
13 Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.

Today's Devotion card

Dear God, this is a new day and I may face unexpected temptations. Please help me to keep free from evil.

James 1:12

"Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life.

I was chuckling today over the devotional card.
It made me smile and giggle ... because I think we all face that everyday.
Sometimes more than others.
I think this should be a standing morning prayer and verse.

Day 11

So much to be thankful for.
As I reflect on what today is.
I'm extremely thankful for the men an women who serve this country for my freedoms.
To them I say
THANK~YOU!
To live in this country where I can freely serve my Lord and Savior.
Say and speak whats on my mind.
To be me.
FREE!
Thanking my Savior and that I can read and speak His word because of men and women that have fought for those freedoms.
Truly thankful!
I'm thankful for my Savior and each one He places in my life.

Do you have someone in your life serving in the military?

I had uncles serve and my grandfather did. It's a bit said, I admit my immediate family hasn't followed the tradition. But I greatly respect those who do/did.
