65 Day Journey

Day 12

You remember I wanted to get up early and have some quiet time with the Lord.
Well with this time change that hasn't happened.
I seem to think sleeping in is the way to go.
But I did manage to get out the door in time for work.
Praise the Lord!

I accomplished quite a bit today too.
That always makes me happy when that happens.
I was able to kill several birds with one stone today.
I felt like Goliath!

I must say I was rather shocked at some prices of some items today at the store.
I had to walk right out and leave them on the counter.
No way could I pay 140 for a carry on bag.
That is just silly!
Though I must admit we went to several stores and they weren't much cheaper anywhere else either.
I decided on a sports duffel bag for hubby instead.
He is going on a trip and his bag is rather tattered.

Well writing this I thought of one of my favorite poems that I love.
Makes me so glad He doesn't toss us aside when we are tattered and torn;
Looking rather ready for the dump.
Instead when placed in the Master's hands we are fined tuned and cleaned.
Ready to be shown off for the show piece we are.
Worth more than silver and gold when placed in the Master's hand.

The Touch of the Master's Hand

It was battered and scarred,
And the auctioneer thought it
hardly worth his while
To waste his time on the old violin,
but he held it up with a smile.
"What am I bid, good people", he cried,
"Who starts the bidding for me?"
"One dollar, one dollar, Do I hear two?"
"Two dollars, who makes it three?"
"Three dollars once, three dollars twice, going for three,"
But, No,
From the room far back a gray bearded man
Came forward and picked up the bow,
Then wiping the dust from the old violin
And tightening up the strings,
He played a melody, pure and sweet
As sweet as the angel sings.
The music ceased and the auctioneer
With a voice that was quiet and low,
Said "What now am I bid for this old violin?"
As he held it aloft with its' bow.
"One thousand, one thousand, Do I hear two?"
"Two thousand, Who makes it three?"
"Three thousand once, three thousand twice,
Going and gone", said he.
The audience cheered,
But some of them cried,
"We just don't understand."
"What changed its' worth?"
Swift came the reply.
"The Touch of the Masters Hand."
And many a man with life out of tune
All battered with bourbon and gin
Is auctioned cheap to a thoughtless crowd
Much like that old violin
A mess of pottage, a glass of wine,
A game and he travels on.
He is going once, he is going twice,
He is going and almost gone.
But the Master comes,
And the foolish crowd never can quite understand,
The worth of a soul and the change that is wrought
By the Touch of the Masters' Hand.

I know I have shared this poem before.
But it is one worth sharing again and again.
It is a reminder of the price each life is worth.
The price that was paid for 2000 years ago for each one of us;
By the shed blood of our Savior.

NKJV

John 3: 16

For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.

Proverbs 25: 13
Like the cold of snow in time of harvest
Is a faithful messenger to those who send him,
For he refreshes the soul of his masters.

Devotional card

I place this day in your care, O God, thanking you for the blessed assurance that Jesus is mine.

2 Corinthians 9:8

"God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye...may abound to every good work."
I am always amazed and blessed how the Lord puts my day together.
What He brings across my path and the words that I have read or that come to mind through the day.
Perfectly fitted to that moment of time.
I just have to be quiet, listen, apply.
Then everything falls together perfectly.
It is when I don't that it goes astray into a thousand different directions that get all knotted up.
But when I follow the lead of the Lord the day is amazing.
Things are shared and lives are changed.
Whether it is mine or those around me.
We are all the better for it!

Day 8

Money to purchase the items of need; as well as those extra items that put a smile on ones face.
The work of the hands that make provision for income.
Smiles passed through the day that lighten the load.
The music in my heart and soul that the Lord has placed there; that makes me His unique child.
His show piece of beauty!

I'm with both of you, time change are the two hardest times of the year. The poem you shared "The Touch of the Masters Hand" has always been a favorite poem of mine. One I like to share with my close friends is one written by a friend in Stinnett Texas :

Why Fight?

When you can't fight it out.
When you can't cry it out.
When you can't talk it out.
JUST REMEMBER THIS !
That low life, that does not understand you -
Will still be your BELOVED,
when your temper cools off.

I HAVE USED THIS MORE TIMES THEN I LIKE TO ADMIT IN MY OWN LIFE, let alone advise young ones getting married.

Thanks for your post and the memories it brought back. I really need this tonight.

Beautiful poem for us today Bethe, and lovely biblical quotes also. I'm glad you managed to get a lot done that day. I agree with you, the prices certainly do seem to be shooting up in the shops these days :( Take care my friend.
